I was born and raised in Connecticut, growing up in a family with a very strong sailing background. My father, a sailmaker with his own loft, is a professional sailor who brought me to many top level keelboat events throughout my childhood. My father's success inspired me to pursue sailing further and despite my childhood interests in many other sports, sailing has always been my true passion. When I was seven and allowed to start sailing on my own I began competing in the Optimist class. Sailing in the Optimist class taught me the fundamentals of dinghy racing and was an excellent introduction to the challenges of top level competition. I had a good amount of success in the class, winning several events, but outgrew the boat in a short time. After I outgrew the Optimist and I began competing in Pixels and 420's, before eventually entering the Laser class at the age of 14.
I attended Fairfield College Preparatory School so that I could continue to pursue competitive sailing. I was elected the captain of the team and raced as the teams A-division skipper for 3 years, leading the team to many regatta wins and the team's first ever appearances at national level events. Throughout high school, I spent Sundays's frostbiting Lasers with the Cedar Point Yacht Club frostbiting fleet as well as sailing Lasers full time in the summer and winter months.
Following high school, I attended Harvard University and competed on the Varsity Sailing Team for four years. During my intercollegiate sailing career, I was a starting skipper for 3 years, culminating with a start in A division at the 2015 College Nationals in Newport, RI. Along with my teammates, I won numerous fleet race and team race regattas. The high time commitment and physically demanding aspect of the sport did not deter me, but instead only furthered my love for the sport. I decided to continue sailing after graduation and start an Olympic Campaign. I graduated in May of 2016 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Statistics and Economics. Immediately shifting focus to my dream of sailing in the Olympics, I flew to Europe and began my Olympic Journey by starting training with the Polish National Sailing Team.
Some of my notable achievements to date include winning the 2017 Laser/Singlehanded U.S. National Championship and finishing 2nd at the 2017 Laser North Americans.
